Nasolabial folds have increased, baggie and dark circles under the eyes getting more noticable, the skin loses its elasticity or suffers from a rash – these are the troubles that, in one way or another, are familiar to many women. Beautiful face is the result of very complex processes that take place in the body. From proper nutrition and physical activity to the levels of toxicity of the body, its disorders and malfunctions of organs and systems –  that’s all directly or indirectly affect the appearance. A person is a whole system, and it will be a mistake to understand it partially. We need to find a way to harmonize the condition of the whole body, not just its certain areas.

Language and beauty

Perhaps, the most unexpected of our traditional perception is the connection of the face’s beauty and youth with such a congenital condition as a tongue tie (shortened tongue frenulum).

Glossodontics® is a method of holistic changes in the maxillofacial complex, which aims for comprehensive restoration of human health. Glossodontics® teach that the tongue is the manager of health.  Tongue tie – a small and often undiagnosed defect – has a global impact on the human. And as for the beauty of the person, it affects the proper shape of muscles, jaws, facial bones, the levels of oxygen circulation and metabolism, including digestive disorders.

How does all of this relate to the tongue?

Oxygen

If the tongue, due to the peculiarities of intrauterine development, does not take its natural place in the dental-jaw anatomical complex, it begins to block the respiratory tract. To make breathing easier, we start breathing through our mouth and tilt our head forward.

The first leads to oxygen starvation, because mouth breathing cannot ensure normal circulation of oxygen in the body and its access to cells. This is especially felt during sleep, when the tongue covers the airways even more. As a result, sleep is disturbed, which means that the body does not fully recover, and the person wakes up tired.

In addition, a constantly forward tilted head (for better breathing) leads to neck muscles overstrain. This increases the muscle load of the head and neck, increases muscle tension, causes headaches, worsens the blood supply to the head, and this, again, leads to oxygen starvation and lack of nutrients in the cells.

Lack of oxygen, poor sleep, constant fatigue – this leads to dull skin, rapid aging of cells, muscles weakening, and all organs deteriorating – this is how beauty and youth are slowly being lost.

Muscles

A tongue tie leads to an imbalance in the work of the entire dento-facial  complex – the off position and size of the jaws affect the bite, the dentition and the forces applied to the teeth. All this also has a direct effect on a person. As for the muscles, in such conditions some of them are overstretched, others are too relaxed. Therefore, folds and a second chin do appear.

The muscular structure of the face is also affected by an overstretched neck and shoulders – the face seems to be pulled down, losing the shape’s clarity and provoking the appearance of pronounced nasolabial folds. Even relaxing or modeling massages cannot prevent this, because they do not fix the root cause – the tongue tie constantly provokes neck overstrain, and this does not allow the facial muscles to relax.

A visual sign of your face condition being affected by a tongue tie is a noticeable bulging of long muscle on the front of the neck, running from the lower jaw to the collarbones, and painful sensations in and around them.

If you notice those signs in yourself, contact Glossodontics® specialists, who can conduct a diagnosis and offer a comprehensive restoration.

Blood Flow

Violation of blood circulation due to over strained muscles happens as well. Tongue-tie, as already mentioned, leads to improper formation of the upper and lower jaws and bite. In particular, the upper jaw becomes narrower, which worsens blood circulation and leads to stagnant processes. Hence the dark “bags” under the eyes, the tendency to swelling of the whole face. In addition, a narrow upper jaw and narrowly placed cheekbones affect the size of the maxillary sinuses. As a result, they become more vulnerable to infections and become inflamed (frequent sinusitis is one of the signs that something is wrong).

The sinuses are important for our health because they play a key role in the production of nitric oxide, which directly affects the ability of blood vessels to dilate. Blood vessels are narrowed, blood circulation is disturbed, and this definitely does not improve our chances of preserving beauty and youth.

Digestion

When a person has an incorrect bite, and the teeth are crowded, and often worn out (due to incorrectly placed jaws), then the digestion process is already disrupted at the chewing stage – food is not crushed as it should be and enters the stomach unprepared. This affects the functioning of the organs of the entire digestive system and interferes with the proper absorption of nutrients.

Poor digestion and gastrointestinal tract diseases play a key role in appearance. The consequences are very quickly reflected on the face. In such conditions, even proper and balanced nutrition will not be sufficient for beauty and health, because the necessary substances simply will not be absorbed.
